Le Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy a le plaisir d’accueillir ce printemps l’artiste sud-africaine Faith XLVII, avec l’exposition Clair-Obscur, dans le cadre des Rencontres urbaines de Nancy 2023
Artiste pluridisciplinaire et figure majeure de l’art urbain contemporain, Faith XLVII explore aujourd’hui un large éventail de médias, supports et matériaux pour ses créations. Son exposition au musée des Beaux-Arts se présente comme une recherche à propos des dualités qui nous composent et qui composent notre monde.
L’artiste présente son travail ainsi : « Une recherche sur l’ombre et la lumière. À propos de la nature. À propos de notre comportement. Le conscient et le subconscient. La connexion et la dissonance. Le monde intérieur et le monde extérieur. Les phases de la lune allant de la plénitude à l’absence. La créativité et la réceptivité. Son et silence. Une interdépendance des deux. »

FAITH XLVII réunit à Nancy une quarantaine d’œuvres - dessins, tapisseries, polaroids, vidéos et installations multimédia - qui interrogent l’ambivalence, voire l’ambiguïté, de la notion de clair-obscur et nous invitent à questionner notre propre perception de l’ombre et de la lumière.
